-Nov 21. The Aggies hosted a ground only 
tournament.  The event attracted local 
BCS clubs.  The only way to win was 
by submission.  No throws were 
allowed. 

-Nov 19. The Aggies travelled to the 
Dallas Judo Invitional, a National D
Level tournament.  This event attracted 
competitors from across the country,
which include World Team memebers.  
The Aggies brought back a bronze medal 
in the Novice 90 kg and two 5th Places in 
the 60 and 81 kg.

-Nov 5.  The Aggie Judo team won the the 
14th Annual Houston Open.  The Aggies had 
17 points and El Salvador (country) had 14.  
Gold medal winners were Matheus Groberio 
81kg, Nathan Westbrook 90kg.  Silver went 
to Kevin Porter 90kg, Matheus Groberio 
Open division and Ryan Wenzel 90 kg Novice.

-Oct 15. The Aggie team traveled to Denham 
Springs, LA and competed in the Louisiana 
Judo Open.  Tis competition also included 
a dual meet between TAMU and UL -Lafayette.  
The Aggies defeated the Rajin Cajuns 
4 - 0.  Each team member defeated their 
opponent by IPPON.  The team included Arash 
Pourhabib 73 kg, Matheus Groberio 81 kg, 
Nathan Westbrook 90 kg and Shane Pan +100 kg.  

In addition to the dual meet the Aggies 
competed in the individual event. 5 medals 
were won.  Groberio and Dan Gomez 66 kg 
each won 1st.  Westbrook and Pourhabib 
placed 2nd while Pan placed 3rd in the 100 kg.

Andres Silva 4th 73 kg, Mark Hammond 81 kg 
finished 7th and Travis Brice did not place.

-Oct 1. The Texas A&M Judo team hosted the 
17th Annual Go Shibata Memorial Judo Tournament.  
214 athletes from 32 clubs attending the
event.  The Aggies won the senior division, 
while the novice team came in 3rd.  Leading 
the senior team were, Nathan Westbrook 1st 
90 kg, Matheus Groberio 2nd 81 kg, Caleb 
Lenard 2nd 100 kg and Arash Pourhabib 2nd 66 kg.  
The Novice medalist were Wenta Liao 1st 66 kg, 
Mark Hammond 2nd 81 kg and Ryan Wenzler 3rd 81 kg.

-Sep 17.  The Aggies won three medals at the 
Annual Alamo Classic held on the campus of Palo 
Alto College.  Matheus Groberio won the 90 kg.  
Nathan Wesbrook placed 3rd while Arash Pourhabib 
placed 2nd in the 66 kg.  

-Fall Season Begins on Sep17 at the Alamo Classic.

-Bob Perez selected to coach the 2011 USA Judo 
World Collegiate Team at the World University 
Games in Shenzhen, China.

-Texas A&M Judo win the TJI State College Championships. 2009-2010 -Fall Win Loss record - -12/5 Texas A&M Travels to Tulsa, Ok -11/21 The Texas A&M team competes at the Dallas Championships. -11/7 The Texas A&M team will the Houston Open. -10/24 The Texas A&M host the 15th Annual Go Shibata Memorial Judo tournament. The Senior Team finished 2nd while the Novice team wins the Novice tournament. -10/10 The 3rd Annual Judo Reunion had 40 former members attend the tailgate reunion. -9/23 Dan Gomez competes at the US Open in San Jose, Ca -9/18 The Aggies attended the Mississippi Judo Open in Clinton, MS. -9/12 The Aggies opened their fall season at the Alamo Classic in San Antonio, TX. -9/19 The Aggie rraveled to Missippi for the second tournament of the year. -9/24 A&M Judo send Dan Gomez to the US International Open in San Jose, Ca The The Aggies will host the 2010 National Collegiate Judo Association Championships on March 13, 2010 TAMU 2008-2009 Win-Loss Record 185-121. 12/1 TAMU team members Fall win loss record is 95-48. -11/25 10 members attend the Annual Dallas Championships. Dan Gomez wins the bronze in the 60 kg. 8 Novice members won medals at the tournament -11/7 8 members attend the Louisiana Judo Open in Dehnam Springs. The team returns with 6 Gold and 2 silver. -11/1 Dan Gomez wins the Bronze medal at the Benito Juarez Int'l tournament in Merida, Mexico -11/1 Members attended the Houston Open. Sky Knippa wins the Sportmanship award. -10/17 35 former members were in town for the annual Judo reunion. The former members were able to meet the new team and keep in touch with old teammates. -10/4 TAMU defeats the USAFA in three dual meets. Novice, Senior and a Former Student team defeats the US Air Force Academy. -10/4 317 competitors attend the Annual Go Shibata Memorial Tournament. 8 states and Mexico were in attendance. -9/27 Dan Gomez competes at US Open but does not advance after losing to Canadian Competitor. -9/21 Texas A&M and the US Air Force Academy have agreed to a dual meet to be held prior to the Go Shibata tournament on 10/4. This Dual Meet will consist of 3 teams. The National Collegiate Judo Association is also sponsoring the event. -9/25-9/28 Dan Gomez (60kg) will compete at the US Open in Colorado Spring at the US Olympic Training Center. -9/20 Alamo Classic canceled due to Hurricane Ike. -9/13 Louisiana Judo Open Canceled due to Hurricane Gustav and Ike. -8/13 TAMU Judomembers traveled to El Paso, Tx and particated in the Border Classic. Dan Gomez and Chris Jones win the gold. While John Ahn takes a silver. -6/14-6/17 Dan Gomez and former student Jackie Perez compete at the 2008 USA Olympic Trials. Don (60kg) fought Nick Kosser, while Jackie fought Valerie Gotay and Janine Nakao. -5/30 Jackie Perez moved into the top 8 in the 57 kg, qualifying her for the 2008 USA Olympic Trials. TAMU Judo will now have two athletes compete in Las Vegas, Nv. Preston Kirkham will attend as their training partner while Bob Perez will attend as their coach. -5/13 Dan Gomez will be at the US Olympic Training Center for three weeks to prepare for the upcoming trials. -5/10 Dan Gomez gives a judo clinic at the Denton Judo Optimist Club. The Clinic will be used tp raise funds his training and the Olympic Trials. -5/1 USA Judo Announces Olympic Trials Qualifiers. Dan Gomez is included in the list. He is ranked #7 in the 60 kg. -4/25Preston Kirkham wins the 2008 Texas A&M Outstanding Team Members award. -4/10 Dan Gomez places 5th at USA Nationals -3/1 Two Members travel to the EMidwest Judo Championships in Chicao, IL. -3/1 8 Members travel to the Mississippi Open. -3/25 Texas A&M team placed 5th in the Senior division of the National Collegiate Championships. The Novice team won the mens novice championships. -3/23 Nine members will compete in the 2008 National Collegiate Judo Championships at the University of Wisconsin - Stout Campus on 3/29 and 3/30.
